Linda Akli is the assistant director of Training, Education, and Outreach for the Southeastern Universities Research Association. As the Lead of XSEDE’s Broadening Participation program, Akli works to engage institutions, researchers, and students from communities traditionally underrepresented in advanced computing and computational science & engineering. To promote the use of advanced computing, Akli organizes regional workshops, visits campuses, and coordinates exhibits at conferences targeting underrepresented minorities. Akli works with administrators at Minority-Serving Institutions on campus infrastructure and curriculum reform, and provides assistance to individual researchers requiring access to XSEDE resources and services. Prior to SURA, Akli managed the Packard HBCU Graduate Scholars program and Merck/AAAS Undergraduate Science Research Program at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, she has 41 years of experience in a variety of technical, program management, and entrepreneurial capacities.
